Resilient Path for Parents and Youth
Included Material
Below is what the three-month training covers. We have downloadable documents, videos, and assignments to help with implementation.
Rules and Boundaries:
We go over when to start implementing rules and progress them as your child gets older. We give ideas on what kind of rules you need to have in place. This section also talks about the need for chores, discipline strategies, and behavior modeling (probably the most essential aspect of this course).
Complete list of topics covered in this month-long course:
- Rules, start when they are mobile
- Routines
- Bedtime
- Chores for all ages
- Screen time
- Outside play
- Curfew
- Types of rules, progression
- Discipline
- Modeling behavior
Manners and appropriate behavior:
This section will review nine different topics, including polite phrases, such as please and thank you, you’re welcome, as well as other polite phrases and words. We also discuss some of the major mistakes parents make when it comes to teaching manners. Other items reviewed in this section include being polite, how manners and assertiveness overcome bullying and proper greetings.
Complete list of topics covered in this month-long course:
- Please and thank you
- Table manners
- Eye contact and speaking and greeting people
- Tone of Voice
- Body Language
- Harsh and foul language
- Politeness
- Shaking hands
- Appropriate behavior
Work and chores:
Yes, this is part of being a resilient person. Parents today are lacking in their motivation to have their children perform chores and work. We will review why these two ideas are essential to the proper development of a child as well as the pros and cons of an allowance. We will discuss the need for a career path and why you, as a parent, need to encourage and guide your child early in life towards a good earning job of some sort. Believe it or not, but a child’s bully resistance also depends on the benefits of performing work and having direction in life. We will discuss this subject throughout the section.
Complete list of topics covered in this month-long course:
- Sense of accomplishment
- Learning new things
- Age-appropriate work and chores
- Developing skills
- Allowances the good and bad
- Learning to earn their way
- Finding something that they enjoy doing
- College Degree, it is not for everyone.

My wife and I have over 30 years of experience teaching kids of all ages,
with 12 of those years teaching in a charter school and seeing more than 300 kids a week. Because of our unique association in teaching children, we start teaching them at a young age and continue for a few years or, in some cases, up to 10 years. During this time, we see what type of parenting works well and what doesn’t. We have seen all kinds of children from passive to aggressive, from wild unmannered to the perfectly mannered child. This association gives us a unique perspective on what works well and what doesn’t work. In more recent years, we have seen more of what doesn’t work well and less of the things that work well.
Our unique perspective gained from our essential work teaching children
added to our own parenting experience, and being parented when we were young gives us some fantastic knowledge. Both of our families of origin had parents raised during the great depression and World War Two. In contrast, many of our peers had parents who were much younger than ours. Our older parents had a much different parenting style than our peers. It was not old fashioned but was rooted in boundaries, manners, respect, and personal success. We both also had experience at a young age babysitting, watching nieces and nephews, and other people’s children. All these experiences added to our knowledge of what works for parenting and, more importantly, what doesn’t work.
