Hi, I’m Adam Menon. I don’t know about you, but when I first started learning Chinese, I struggled
with it. I went through books, CDs, podcasts, anything I could find, but yet I wasn’t making the
progress I wanted, and I couldn’t figure out why. Was I just that dumb?
That was when I realized that most of the learning materials were designed by native Chinese
speakers.
This makes sense. But the problem is that they don’t have the same learning issues that we English
speakers do, as they learned it differently. That’s why I designed Chinese Learn Online (CLO) to solve
these sames issues. It’s the Chinese course I wish I had from the start!
Do you have any of the following problems, when it comes to learning
Chinese?
-
Do you have trouble understand Chinese when it is spoken too fast? -
Are you always using the wrong tones, or forgetting which is the right tone to use? -
Do you have trouble remembering vocabulary or learning characters?
Progressive audio system of teaching
Chinese Learn Online uses a unique, progressive immersion audio system of teaching. What this means is
that later lessons reuse the Chinese that was taught to you in earlier lessons, so you’re constantly reviewing
the new material.
In the earlier lessons, each new word is spoken slowly with the tones emphasized and taught to you. You are given
space to repeat after the speaker, or come up with an answer on your own, before it’s given to you. With time you’ll
find yourself being able to recognize the tones before they are given to you. And you’ll find
yourself being able to reproduce them more accurately.
See what a difference this approach has made to other students just like you.
I have been complimented many times, quite genuinely, on my good pronunciation. Not as a native speaker or speaking
correct Mandarin all the time but generally being understood. That is a huge compliment after only 7 months.
I have a close Chinese friend who listened to some of the recordings on my IPod – she said go with CLO. She constantly
remarks on my great accent which she says is always the biggest problem.
Word for word transcript
We don’t stop here though. Each lesson also has a word for word transcript associated with it that you can follow along.
If you’re learning characters, you can try reading the transcript in Chinese first, before hearing the associated audio.
If you ever get stuck, popup translations can get you back on track.
Improve your listening ability
As you get used to it, later lessons speed up the Chinese you’re hearing as your brain adapts to it.
You’ll find Chinese being used throughout the lesson. But this is all Chinese that was taught to you before, so it will
be mainly review.
Imagine being able to listen to an entire lesson, all in Chinese, and being able to understand every word
being used. How would that make you feel?
What others say
“I have found CLO to be very useful for me to learn Chinese. I started by going to some basic classes but since then I have been self taught. I have several beginners reading books and I had made progress learning characters but because I don’t have access to other Chinese speakers for practice, it is hard to have a conversation. Finding CLO has made an enormous difference to my learning. I like being able to work at my own pace, it is great to be able to hear the spoken lessons. The lessons progress at a good pace, fast enough to hold interest but not too fast that I have to keep repeating them. Overall I think CLO is very good value for money.”

“I am 67 and have been studying Mandarin for a little over 2 years. Before this I was a mono-lingual American, who was never interested in leaning to speak another language. I take Mandarin classes in the US and China, but I find CLO provides the most effective method for helping me hear and understand, speak and read the language. I believe the ‘Progressive Teaching Method’ used in CLO has been most effective in helping me advance in learning Mandarin. I highly recommend CLO for anyone interested in an effective and fun method for learning Mandarin.”

“I have been doing this CLO Chinese Course for around six months and very happy with it . I am able to make good progress that does impress my Chinese friends. Unlike other Chinese courses , This one is very well structured, easy to follow and understand . It is very suitable for me and I am sure it will be for all other new learners as well . In comparison this CLO is the best so far.”

“I have tried different methods from other website, and I believe that the chinese learn online courses are well structured. Also it is important the comprehension is not too easy or too hard. you would think that learning chinese is not fun, but these guys actually make it quite enjoyable because if you study a bit everyday (or almost) you will see your progress.”
